The Torngat Mountains
Just recently finished filming a job for Newfoundland / Labrador tourism in the Torngat Mountains, Canada's 2nd highest mountain range.
I have been fortunate enough to travel all over Canada, and Labrador was the only place I had not yet visited-- I was highly anticipating this job. Just getting there was an adventure with many flights on several different aircraft.
Upon arrival at base camp, 300 KM north of Nain, Labrador's most northern town, we set up our tents, rolled out our sleeping bags and headed directly to the kitchen tent. Over the course of the week, our diet consisted of caribou, seal, and Arctic char (my favourite being caribou as it was always prepared as a delicious stew).
The highlight of my trip was filming a caribou hunt that turned into a seal hunt when along the way our guide spotted and shot a seal off the bow of the boat. Not three minutes later, I was eating the seal's liver, which was so tender, it seemed to just melt in my mouth. After that it was back in the boat and before long, we found ourselves circling around the most spectacular iceberg....
